The Student Knowledge Promotion Committee holds academic talks for all students each year. The second term scholars’ talk was held on 22nd March. It is our pleasure to invite Prof. Cheung Hok Ming Frederick, emeritus professors of the Department of History, CUHK to be our guest speaker. His topic was “Learning English through Etymology”; Prof. Cheung introduced lots of fascinating origins of English words to us.
The aims of the activity are to promote active learning environment and encourage students to develop good reading habits. Prof. Cheung also discussed different words’ origins and meanings with our students. All of us spent the afternoon with such a knowledgeable sharing, thank you Prof. Cheung for being our guest again.
